I spent the rest of the morning and afternoon searching the library few for clues to help answer some of my questions. Instead I found battle maps and layouts of the Witches Forest in what seemed to be my fathers handwriting. I tried many times to get mine and mordoks bond to work but all I received was silence. Perhaps something happened to him. Even the bond I shared with deep did not seem to work.
Perhaps the distance that breaches us prevents it. No that could not be right then how was Kuso able to get in my mind from here? Things just did not seem to make sense. Dark said that he could sense my distress so that would mean we were bonded in return but I do not recall our bonding point. Perhaps the beast bonded with him when he gave himself freely the other night. Why so many questions but yet no answers?
" - Majesty, you have been at this for hours. Come let us break for lunch. I had the castle cook prepare us a nice picnic in the gardens. B1 you are welcome to join us?" Dark asked.
" - Dark thank you for the kind offer but I must take a rain check. I have a few castle duties to tend to before Kuso has my hide." B1 said with a laugh. B1 bade me farewell and Dark and I proceeded to the castle gardens.
" - Majesty I hope you find what it is you are searching for. I hate to see so much disappointment on your face." Dark said softly.
" - My whole life has been one big manipulation after another Dark. I am tired of being used to gain power. Sometimes I wished I could be rid of the beast and my cursed powers. All I ever wanted was a place I could call home that was safe from harm so I could find love and raise a family. All of those dreams are just what they are Dreams." i said in defeat. Dark lifted my chin up and looked me square in the eyes.
" - Majesty you can have all of that here if you would let your self open up to it. As long as I am alive no harm will come to you this I promise. You have already captured my heart the first moment I laid eyes on you. I am not sure how you feel for me but you can always know you are always and forever loved by someone. As far as family goes you have plenty right here surrounding you." he said. I did not know what to say. I must admit the first time my hand touched Dark's something sparked.
Something I could not explain and I know that he had felt it as well. I want to open myself up but the lingering memory of Breedes betrayal and Stevos disappearing and now knowing Mordok may possible be my brother made me retract from the thought.
" - I need time Dark. Everyone I once loved betrayed me in some form and I just need more time to process it." I said softly.
" - I have a whole lifetime Majesty and I am always here if you need someone to talk to." he said. We came upon the small spread of food near the castle fountain. Four different cheeses,sandwiches of assorted kinds and lots of different exotic fruits. There was even a bottle of wine grown from one of Defy's finest vineyards.
" - I was not sure exactly of your tastes so I had the cook prepare a little of everything" he said very shyly." Dark that was so sweet of you. But I am not quite sure we will be able to eat everything here" I laughed.
" - No worries Majesty. After we are done we can take all of the leftover food to some of the local families in need." he said cheerfully. Dark really did have a heart of gold. I could see the compassion in his eyes as he had spoken the words. There was still goodness deep within here all it needed was a little help to grow. I vowed to drive the darkness away even if it meant my very own life.
